The other system I have found useful is a key fob unit. The systems I have are simple on/off buttons but very handy. They are great for lighting kits, ignitions, or any 12vdc power need. This is a whole new area unto itself and requires a completely new skill set, for me any ways...
On my VIDEO page you can see how the key fob system works on the ZZR 1135 Katana.
L.E.D. Is great. Just about zero power consumption, small light weight and easy to hide. Not to mention if done right can last for ever.
The last project I used them for was on a 1982 Katana 1100. I built a custom dash for a set of digital clocks and needed some trouble and operating lights, ie: signals, neutral, hi-beam and oil.
Don't make the mistake I did and get "super brites". They can actually damage your eyes. Even when using huge resisters to cut down the emitting light.
One more tip. When you buy some L.E.D. Signal lights for your Katana you will need a new signal relay as the new lights draw such a small amount of power they won't trip the relay. Go to your local automotive supply don't pay inflated prices for the add-on units you may see on Ebay. Not needed.
R.F.I.D. Stand for Radio Frequency Identification. These units are in car keys (transponders) for use with keyless ignitions, door lock activation and 1000 other uses including your passport so authorities know who you are before you get to them.
What I like about them is I can do away with the keys bouncing around my top triple clamp and reduce the temptation for someone to jam a screwdriver into my key lock. These systems are readily available on the market at considerable expense, but I have put together a package for about 150.00. You can see how it works on myYOUTUBEchannel.
